Comprehension
At Our Lady Queen of Peace we use VIPERS to cover the 6 key domains of the reading curriculum:
These areas allow teachers to question children effectively during reading tasks. Question stems are displayed in each classroom to assist children to determine the key domain when answering questions.
Comprehensions take place on a weekly using Literacy Shed Comprehension Plus. All comprehensions are staged according to a Lexile score which allows teachers to select suitable comprehensions for their class. The texts are placed in stages as follows:

The Festival of Literature (2nd - 12th February 2021)
The festival of literature brings acclaimed authors, illustrators, and poets together to inspire both children and adults to read for
pleasure. It is a fantastic opportunity to get our children excited about reading. The events are available to watch live or on catch up. The children will have access to live streams, live questions and answers from the authors as well as fantastic teaching resources linked to each author event, tailored to suit each year group. Teachers will be in touch soon with more information.
